GoMedia taps Irdeto to ensure Eurostar OTT video delivery
Editor | 17 March 2016Leading European on-board infotainment provider GoMedia has selected security specialist Irdeto to design a content protection solution for its Eurostar train over-the-top (OTT) video delivery system.
GoMedia specialises in providing companies such as the cross-channel train company with deployed Wi-Fi media solutions that allow them to monetise their services. In the new deployment, Irdeto Rights will secure access to Eurostar’s OTT content library, either through the iOS and Android apps or via PC or Mac. Travellers will be able to access the videos in the library directly via on-board Wi-Fi, without requiring a 3G/4G connection. With this new service, GoMedia and Eurostar can reach up to 600,000 European passengers every month.
The deal marks the first deployment of the content protection firm’s technology in the transportation market, GoMedia will use Irdeto Rights to secure access over PCs and Macs and also ActiveCloak technology and Secure Key Exchange (SKE) for the Eurostar mobile app.
“As we launch this new service in the train industry, it was paramount to demonstrate a robust and secure solution to Eurostar,” commented GoMedia MD Roger Matthews. “The flexibility of the technical solution and experience offered by Irdeto was perfect for this project, providing a sound framework that can be adapted and personalised for other GoMedia customers.”
