Football gives Televisa a welcome kick Copa-america-centenario

After confirming it wouldn’t have access to the Rio Olympics this summer, Mexico’s Televisa is now banking on football, broadcasting live games from the Centennial Copa America and the UEFA Eurocup.

copa america centenarioKicking off next Friday (3 June), Televisa’s pay-TV signals TDN and TDN HD will air 55 live football games, 14 of which will be exclusive for Mexico. 22 matches will be from the Copa America, to be held in the US between 3-26 June, and 33 games will be played in Europe, during the UEFA Eurocup, being held in France from 10 June.

“We are ready to cover these two large events, broadcasting the best games and offering top quality programming so viewers don’t miss what’s going on in the US and France,” said Fernando Howard, general manager, TDN. “In addition to live games, we will air special editions of our productions Cascareando and Fútbol en Serio,” he added.

Indeed, Televisa is to count on TDN’s sports experts and journalists, including Francisco Javier González, Jorge Sánchez, Eduardo Trelles, Raúl Sarmiento, Eduardo Camarena, Paco Villa, Miguel Ángel Briseño and Carlos López.

TDN will offer the summer football programming not only in Mexico, but across Central America and the Caribbean region.

Earlier this year the major agreement between América Móvil and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) left Televisa, and TV Azteca, with no Rio Olympics programming.
