4ksat 31 July In a boost to the development of Ultra HD services in the region, Asian satellite operator Asia Satellite Telecommunications (AsiaSat) is collaborating with imaging solutions provider Digital Magic to co-produce UltraHD content.
Hong Kong-based Digital Magic serves advanced imaging fields, from films, TV commercials, corporate and large venue content production. Technologies covered include 3D stereo, 3D Autostereo and virtual reality.
The programming will run on the dedicated channel 4K-SAT provided by AsiaSat 4 at 122°E and includes a knowledge-based Ultra HD mini-series on satellite communications to provide an introduction to topics such as how a satellite works, how it serves people and how it is used in broadcasting high quality content. 4K-SAT is currently broadcasting a variety of full 4KTV content and is available free-to-air and offers access to major TV operators in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Compelling content is the key to drive Ultra HD viewership,” said Sabrina Cubbon, vice president, marketing and global accounts of AsiaSat. “Creating original content is the first step of our collaboration with Digital Magic. Digital Magic is an industry-renowned content producer in UHD and VR. We look forward to developing more together for our audience in Asia.”
Added Digital Magic production director Percy Fung: “We are delighted to partner with AsiaSat, Asia’s UHD satellite broadcasting pioneer, to create original, insightful content to educate and inform our viewers in the region. Initial content viewing among youth has suggested that this is a meaningful attempt to broaden public interest and knowledge in space and communications.”
