BBC Worldwide has inked its first format deal for An Extra Slice, with broadcaster NPO in the Netherlands.
an extrNPO signed up to four seasons, and the format is set to be renamed Smaakt Naar Meer.
The Dutch broadcaster has also recommissioned a further four series of The Great Bake Off, known locally as Heel Holland Bakt. Following three successful series, with the third peaking at 3.2 million viewers, the fourth series will start on Sunday 4 September.
“With the fourth season of Heel Holland Bakt starting this weekend in the Netherlands, it is perfect timing to announce yet more international sales of the ever popular Bake Off format as well as our first sale of its counterpart, An Extra Slice,” said Suzanne Kendrick, head of global format sales at BBC Worldwide. “It seems the global appetite for baking shows no signs of relenting as local versions of both formats continue to cause a stir worldwide.”
