Maker makes new UK executive appointment

Maker Studios, recently bought by Disney for half a billion dollars, has revealed that online industry veteran Dan'l Hewitt has joined the company as UK managing director.
In this newly created London-based role reporting to president of international René Rechtman, Hewitt will be responsible for overseeing commercial and brand partnerships, extending and nurturing the pool of UK-based talent and broadening the network reach of the company which describes itself as the world's largest provider of online video content for millennials. It currently claims more than 5.5 billion monthly video views and 380 million subscribers.
Formerly General Manager of VICE Media's ADVICE division, running digital, audience and revenue growth strategies, Hewitt has held senior positions at Yahoo!, Bebo/AOL and DemandMedia and co-founded Voower, a marketplace for native advertising, and has invested in a number of digital content-focused start-ups, including Quill and TCOLondon. Commenting on his appointment, Hewitt said: "Joining Maker Studios at this stage of its international growth provides an incredible opportunity to build on the existing success of the company, to further develop sustainable and measurable commercial content models, and support original, creative talent who resonate with and delight global audiences."
