The latest ISP speeds-and-feeds data is in, and it turns out that when it comes to supporting over-the-top (OTT) and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streaming, France is leading the way, with Bouygues Telecom taking the top spot in the country with an average speed of 3.86Mbps.
According to the June data for the Netflix ISP Speed Index, this is well above the averages in the United States, which saw much movement on in the rankings in terms of speed. Cox moved to the top spot with an average speed of 3.58Mbps, while Verizon FiOS slipped to No 3 with an average speed of 3.43Mbps. Cablevision came in second, with an average speed of 3.57Mbps. Bright House and Time Warner Cable also slipped in the rankings, dropping three and two spots, respectively.
Also notable this month: in New Zealand, the country's recently launched OTT service Spark continued its climb, rising two spots to fourth place with an average speed of 3.46Mbps, up from 3.17Mbps last month. Call Plus fell two spots with an average speed of 3.06Mbps, down from 3.30 Mbps last month.
