German media company ProSiebenSat.1 has finalised the takeover of the majority stake in DOSB New Media, operator of online sports channel Sportdeutschland.TV.
ProSiebenSat.1’s digital subsidiary 7NXT now holds 57% of the shares; financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
ProSiebenSat.1 and DOSB New Media want to jointly expand sports coverage by Sportdeutschland.TV and make more people aware of the offering.
“We see large potential and a long-term trend in online and mobile live sports footage,” Markan Karajica, CCO of ProSiebenSat.1, said in Munich. “Our target will be to provide live coverage of the large variety of leagues and sports competitions for the increasing fan community on the internet. We look forward to our partnership with the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) through which we want to increase popularity of Olympic and non-Olympic sports.”
