Content protection firm Kudelski has revealed a successful fiscal 2015, driven by solid performance by its NAGRA group in emerging markets and smart TV.
For the year ended 31 December 2015, Kudelski posted a year operating income increase and a 11.1% revenue growth in constant currency. Net income leapt 47.6% TO CHF49.3 million compared with the same period in 2014.
Attributing the reasons for the growth, the company said that while it had ‘confirmed’ its global leadership position in traditional markets for digital media, it had also made successful large-scale deployment of innovations in the TV space and solid growth in emerging TV markets.
It quoted as an example that it had strengthened its strategic positioning by successfully developing innovations on a large scale in the TV space, in partnership with the likes of EchoStar in the smart device area.
In the year it also won and extended contracts with firms such as Liberty Global, Altice Group, Dish-EchoStar, which selected the anyCAST content security technologies in order to protect premium content according to Hollywood requirements for 4K/Ultra HD content.
In emerging markets, growth was driven by projects with the Hinduja Group in India, Sat HD Regional service in Brazil and VTV Cab in Vietnam,
The company’s Conax division also gained success in the year from a range of services based on NAGRA anyCAST and Conax Contego security for companies such as StarTimes in China and Nuevo Siglo in Uruguay.
Buttressed by its 2015 performance, Kudelski predicts that going forward its core digital TV business will “continue to improve its ability to anticipate the needs of operators and content owners, and to enhance the intuitiveness of user experience, taking into consideration the evolving competitive landscape of the group’s customers”.
