Portugal sees Ronaldo win Champions League in 4K through Hispasat, MEO

The thousandth showdown between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, this time in the Champions League final, was aired in 4K on Portugal Telecom’s MEO thanks to technology from Hispasat.
cristiano ronaldoWhile the Spanish football idol Cristiano Ronaldo scored the last penalty shoot-out, giving the 11th continental trophy to Real Madrid, the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite was concluding a successful live Ultra HD broadcasting for the pay-TV channel Sport TV.
The live game was the first step of a recently-signed Portugal-wide agreement, which will also see Portugal’s public broadcaster RTP air some forthcoming UEFA Euro 2016 matches in UHDTV, including the semi-finals and the final, to be held on 10 July in Paris.
MEO is will also include Hispasat 4K, the company’s Ultra HD channel, in its schedule.
Hispasat has become a leader in 4K technology in the Iberian Peninsula, driving both broadcasting and production projects, focusing specifically on sports events.
