YouTube expands kids’ platform in Latin America

After having tested YouTube Kids in Argentina and Mexico, Google is starting the video-on-demand (VOD) platform’s expansion across Latin America by launching in Colombia.
youtube kidsThe platform, which is designed for mobile screens and children aged up to five, intends to deliver child-friendly content, while involving parents in the app and controlling watching behaviour.
YouTube Kids launched over a year ago for English-speaking audience and was premiered in Mexico and Argentina last March, kicking off Spanish-language programming.
“YouTube Kids is Google’s first app designed for kids. And now it’s available for Colombian families for free,” said Antoine Torres, YouTube Kids director for Latin America.
Torres didn’t reveal the next steps of the regional expansion, but it’s expected to be rolled out gradually across all the Spanish-speaking territories.
The VOD platform, which has been downloaded over 10 million times worldwide, runs on iOS and Android mobile devices, Apple TV, Chromecast and some consoles.
